A Visit From THE FIRST ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------- The only thing separating the huge crater that was Sunnydale from the ocean was a small isthmus of land. Geologists from every country around the world marveled at the walls of the crater. News teams flew by in helicopters and filmed. Historians tried to mount expeditions into the crater. The ocean stopped them. The tide was first a trickle, then a waterfall, then a deluge. The wall collapsed and the ocean rushed in with a roar heard as far away as Los Angeles. Seemingly within hours, the California Legislature realised that they had a very deep port. A great place for the new Sunnydale. In less that a year, Sunnydale was back. Rebuilt. Many former residents returned, as housing prices were first typical California high, then lowered. Businesses moved in, a mall was planned and built. It was the latest boomtown...almost like magic. One of the former residents to return was Buffy Summers, the Slayer. Well, the slayer in charge anyway. Curiosity compelled her to return to the place she had died at twice and nearly been killed many times before. The new Watcher's Council had financed her trip and purchased her a home. With Rupert Giles in charge, they were much less stingy with the funding. Many others followed her there.
Buffy went upstairs to her new bedroom to rest a moment. There was a party going on downstairs. She could hear Xander and Willow laughing at something Kennedy had said. Oz was playing Dingo songs on a accoustic guitar, Buffy needed a break. She sat down at her vanity table and looked at herself in the mirror. Suddenly, she saw a burned and battered Angel in the mirror over her shoulder. "Did I ever thank you for killing me and sending me to hell, Buff?" Angel said. Buffy turned quickly and looked over her shoulder, but Angel was not there. "Well. So this is the Slayer's bedroom,"Caleb said from the door" Now, I've never been in a brothel before, but I s'pose it would look just like this. Tawdry. You can even smell the sin of lust in here...it's nauseating." Caleb walked into the room and chuckled " O' 'course what would you expect, you bein' nothin' but dirty. Just a another dirty girl, who thinks she's all sweetness and light. My, my, my,...am I gonna love tamin' you!" And he vanished. A rotting Jonathon said "I've never been in a girl's bedroom before. I've never even been with a girl before and I got stabbed. I wasn't even that evil, was I?" Adam said" I've been thinking about the concept of defeat. That concept is not in my programming except in the abstract. I understand the concept of set back. Yes, that is an oppurtunity for an aggressor to regroup and attack in some other fashion. Sometimes a set back will open new venues for attack. Yes, I think I understand the concept better." And he walked out the door. Glory was sitting on the bed" And here's another concept for you to think about girlfriend, I mean besides my fabulous shoes, how about eternal pain? That sounds like fun! Maybe torture..ooo yeah, now there's a million laughs. Maybe dying for real, this time." She stood up and walked around the room, and vanished. Buffy started to walked towards the door when from her vanity table she heard" So, you close the Hellmouth and think everything's Jim Dandy?" Mayor Richard Wilkins III laughed" I built this place so I could ascend to a higher level, not build a new deep water port. The Hellmouth is a mystical place, not a location, like say Disneyland. You know, that would be a good place to put another Hellmouth," He laughs" Imagine all the little kiddies thinking they're going to see Mickey Mouse and instead get they get eaten. Hi, kiddies! Oh, well. Now you better watch out, Buffy. I did promise to eat you, and I keep MY promises." He got up from the chair and turned into The Master. "So you thought this was over? Not very smart,are you? This was all part of the grand plan. They never tell you everything about prophecies, do they? Well, you'll learn what an idiot you really are soon enough." And The Master vanished. Buffy was about to call out when Chloe said" I never got to be a slayer, I died. When Willow cast the spell and made all the potentials into slayers, it called lots of girls." Kendra said "And not all ob dem good, I tink. I tink some will be bad and come to kill you." Drusilla walked into the room" There's someone new in town. He's got a nasty plan doesn't he? Miss Edith says so. Changing all the things around like a bowl of little fishies swimming round and round." Buffy said, "Okay, enough games. You are all just ghosts and you can't really hurt anyone. So why don't you all just go annoy someone else?" Spike said "No ghosties here, Luv. Just loads of bad memories and nasty things that really want to kill you, and they can." And he and Drusilla vanished. "Flesh and blood, little lady. That's what we are."Caleb said from by the window. "And we are really happy to be back here in Sunnydale. Lots of old friends are coming back." The Gentleman appear, bow, and vanish. Der Kinderstodt appears and tips his hat. Gnarl said in his singsong voice "Many nasties want to eat you...want to play with all your friends.." and he vanished. Caleb said "See, it's not about 'right" this time.." and vanished. Warren said "It's not about wrong, either." He picked up a vase on Buffy's vanity and dropped it on the floor, and vanished. Buffy said "It's not even about power, this time.." Anya appears and tips her head to the side,"It's about VENGEANCE.
